Well folks, I’ve decided to start somethin’ special on the blog here. I’m going to be voyaging around Sarasota (or whatever city I venture to) and uncovering some quirky, quaint, or just plain cool spots that people don’t hear about too much. A lot of businesses in Sarasota are geared toward tourists, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. But I want to peel away the surface of the overly-broadcasted restaurants and attractions and show you all some parts of Sarasota you just might be missing out on.
The first place I want to show you is probably the most unassuming hidden treasure of an antique mall you could find. Located on the left side of University Parkway just past 301 (heading toward the beaches) lies Pyewackets Antique Mall. It lies between a few other businesses in a somewhat random strip and is very easy to miss. But let me tell you, when you walk in it is much bigger than you would think.
You can literally find almost anything here. Jewelry, pottery, kitchen sets, home decor of all sorts. And the best part of all is that these items are so unique. You could walk into Walmart any day and pick up a $10 lamp that is one of a million just like it. Or you could come to a place like this and find one for $8 that you probably couldn’t find anywhere else if you tried.
This was my favorite room! I’ll tell you more at the bottom…
Of course, the moment I saw this shelf FULL of old cameras I was like a kid in a candy store just gazing at all the choices. Also, these owl salt and pepper shakers were crazy cool. And this last room…oh, I can’t say enough about all the old fashion hats ($10), vintage purses ($10), antique hat boxes ($3), and vintage ties ($2). It’s all the way in the back so make sure you don’t miss it.
Well peeps, I really hope you check out this place. It’s by far worth a good afternoon of your time. Make sure to say hello to Anna, Daryl, or Ashley and let them know you found out about them through the blog.
