It is the unworldly thing to do—yes.
The world first feasts—then has its fast.
It gluts itself—then loathes its excesses.
It laughs—and then it weeps.
But Christ reverses the order—
The poor shall not always be poor.
First the Cross—then the Crown.
First the sorrow—then the joy.
The lowly shall be exalted.
The mourners shall be comforted.
